Returning Score (2021)

This performance forms part of my research into the practice of ‘self-choreography’, a processual discipline of choreographing within and through the dancer/maker’s own self. After working with Amy Voris for four months between April – July 2021, I went into a studio alone to work through her process, using recordings of her scores: opening, harvesting, returning and deepening. I also found Ally Baybutt’s LBMA course in August 2021 very supportive in developing this practice, particularly in the ideas of exertion and recuperation, which I use regularly throughout this performance. The work was performed at Clarence Mews in Hackney, London, to a small invited audience who watched online via zoom.
