This short study was created during the Covid-19 lockdown. Reflecting on my own isolation and need to reach out and touch the world, I began created this duets with a Mirror, based on research carried out at Clarence Mews in 2017. I was initially drawn to the way the mirror created an external ‘partner’, with the crop of my arm seeming both connected and disconnected from my body. In the final section I play with the perspective and framing of the camera, which mirrored that of the mirror itself creating a double dialogue and commentary on the ways we are contained and ‘enframed’ by our real and virtual spaces.

I'm a freelance dance artist and Pilates teacher. My time is spent running around London teaching people to stand up straight, rolling around on studio floors to work out the meaning of movement, watching as many different kinds of live performance as I can afford to pay for, liking or not liking what I see, applying for stuff and mostly not getting it, sitting at my computer with my head in my hands telling myself: it's all absolutely worth it!
